Your weekly bender may be more harmful than you think. According to a study carried out at Loyola University’s Stritch School of Medicine, alcohol is responsible for disrupting the genes involved in maintaining healthy bones. More specifically, binge drinking (defined as anything over 5 drinks in 2 hours) was found to obstruct the molecular pathways responsible for preserving bone mass, metabolism and strength, heightening your risk of injury or even osteoporosis. Try limiting yourself to 2 drinks per night. It’s better for your health, and you’ll remember her name when she asks.
